Series Review: Delirium Series by Lauren Oliver

If you love dystopian novels and missed reading this series back in 2012 like I did, then I highly recommend this series. It is a trilogy and a collection of novellas. The series consists of

  1. Delirium

  2. Pandemonium

  3. Requiem

  4. Delirium: Stories

This was the first series I picked up after finishing my English Degree. It had been so long since I had the free time to just pick up whatever I wanted to read instead of what I had to read for classes. I was immediately hooked by Delirium. The writing was easy to get into, I enjoyed the characters and the premise was interesting. What would life be like if you can't feel love?

I became so invested in the world and the characters that I literally couldn't put the books down. Whenever I was supposed to be doing something else all I could think about was reading instead. I had to know how everything turned out. That's why I read the entire series and novella within a week.

Usually book series either are completely from one perspective or multiple perspectives from the beginning through the whole series. This series is different.

In the first book we read completely from Lena, the main character's point of view. In the second book we read from Lena's perspective again, but from the present and from the past. In the third book we switch back and forth between Lena and her best friend, Hana.

Though the different perspectives in each book may not be for everyone. I think it does a great job of expanding the world and allowing us to see how events impact others in the story. Overall, all I can say is that this series instantly became a favorite of mine and is definitely worth a try.
